The application of fluorine free anti siphon waterproofing agent on shoe materials and fabrics

1、 The demand for anti siphoning in the market
With the increasing demand for waterproofing in shoe materials, zippers, webbing, and tent functionality, anti siphon waterproofing agents are becoming more and more widely used, almost all of which require waterproofing agents, from the soles of shoes to shoelaces, uppers, etc.
At present, the main material of shoe materials is synthetic fiber, which is popular among manufacturers and consumers due to its sturdy, durable, easy to maintain, wrinkle resistance, and low production cost. However, it does not have waterproof function and is prone to soaking in water, which affects its performance and cannot meet the comfort needs of consumers. Therefore, it is necessary to process the shoe material fabric by adding waterproof agents to improve the fiber surface composition of the shoe material fabric, reduce the surface energy of the fabric, make the liquid not easy to unfold on the surface, and firmly adhere to the fibers or chemically combine with the fibers, making the fabric less susceptible to liquid wetting. Making shoe materials waterproof, improving their wearability, and increasing added value is one of the ways to enhance the competitiveness of products in the market.

2、 Anti siphon application field
A fluorine free waterproof agent with excellent waterproof and anti siphon performance and good washing resistance can be used for water splashing, anti siphoning, static water pressure resistance, and anti permeability treatment of cellulose fibers, synthetic fibers, and their blended fabrics. It has environmental protection and washing resistance characteristics and is suitable for fields such as shoes, ribbons, gloves, hats, etc.

3、 What is anti siphon?
Leather, shoe materials, zippers, tents and other fabrics require anti siphon treatment from customers. What is anti siphon treatment? The siphon phenomenon is the phenomenon of using the force of the height difference of the liquid surface to suck water from low places to high places. The anti siphon effect on textiles is similar to the capillary effect. After the fabric comes into contact with water, the water will spread and spread to the high places of the fabric. The fabric treated with anti siphon treatment has a longer water repellent time, usually reaching over 48 hours to keep the fabric from dripping.
Customers who specialize in waterproofing leather, shoe materials, zippers, and tents often mention anti siphoning. In fact, anti siphoning can be divided into static and dynamic anti siphoning, both of which are treated with waterproofing agents. Static anti siphoning is achieved by using the static suspension method to observe whether the fabric has climbed in the liquid and the height of the climb to evaluate whether it is qualified.

4、 Static anti siphon testing method for shoe materials
Tools:
1) At least one sink with a depth of no less than 50mm and fixtures;
2) Distilled water;
3) Sorophenyl turquoise brown dye 400% or other dyes;
4) Weights.
Process:
1) Cut three samples into 2cmx10cm test samples and indicate the direction at the top of the samples;
2) Inject a large amount of distilled water released with dye into the sink;
3) Draw a line 10mm away from the edge at one end of each sample length direction;
4) Use a clamp to level the line 10mm away from the marking point;
5) Insert the prepared sample into the sink, immerse it in water for 10mm, and secure the sample with a clamp, as shown in the following figure;
6) Keep the sample in water for 6 hours and observe every 30 minutes.
Evaluation: Observe the water absorption status of the sample every 30 minutes according to the testing frequency, and after 6 hours, measure the height of water rise. If the siphon height exceeds 10mm, it is considered unqualified (or judged according to customer requirements)

5、 High performance fluorine free anti siphon and anti water agent

Fluoride free anti siphon and water repellent agent is a high-performance textile additive synthesized from modified resin. It is fixed on the surface of the fabric through immersion, rolling, and other methods, changing the surface tension of the fabric, forming a protective film that repels liquid droplets on the surface, giving the fabric excellent waterproof and anti siphon performance. It is waterproof for 100 minutes, anti siphon for 12 hours without climbing, and has good washing resistance. After multiple washes, the waterproof performance is still excellent.
