1、 Waterproofing method for suede leather surface
High performance waterproofing agents or waterproofing mixed solvents containing S1 or F are required for the waterproofing treatment of suede leather. The waterproof treatment agent shall be proportioned according to the standard concentration, and the solution shall be evenly sprayed on the suede leather surface with spray equipment to achieve the waterproof treatment of leather. The advantages of using this method for waterproofing treatment lie in its simple operation, moderate equipment cost, and effective saving of raw materials. At the same time, the waterproofing performance is guaranteed, especially the superior static waterproofing performance. However, due to the lack of hydrophobic treatment inside the leather, its water absorption and dynamic waterproofing performance are poor. If solvent based waterproofing agents are used, the volatilization process will cause air pollution.
2、 Fattening and waterproofing treatment method
Fattening waterproofing can be divided into simultaneous treatment and post treatment based on the different types of waterproofing agents selected. Simultaneous waterproofing and oiling is achieved by using hydrophobic solvents or waterproof fatliquors to waterproof the leather surface. In terms of using this method for waterproofing treatment, adding a closed fixing program in the process can better improve the waterproof performance of leather. The advantages of this waterproofing method are simple process technology, wide applicability, and excellent results, which are why it is favored by many leather manufacturers. The method of waterproofing treatment after fatliquoring mainly refers to the common waterproofing method, which involves using fatty acid waterproofing agents or stearic acid alkaline chromium chloride reagents for waterproofing treatment. If dyeing and drying can be combined in the process, the waterproof performance of leather will be significantly improved.
3、 Waterproof testing of leather
In the process of testing the waterproof performance of leather, it is usually necessary to simulate the motion state, because leather is usually in motion during use and wearing. Therefore, to ensure the performance of leather, waterproof testing should also be carried out according to the normal use of the item. The usual testing methods rely on modern waterproof testing instruments for testing, and should also be combined with the requirements of international ISO certification and leather quality standards of the International Association of Leather Chemists, referring to the waterproof testing methods of these standards. The principle of waterproof testing is to conduct waterproof testing by simulating the tensile deformation and bending state that people may cause to leather during use. The main waterproof testing items include the number of bends or corresponding time required for leather to pass through from one side to the other, the water absorption during this time, and the water permeability over a longer period of time. These testing methods can more intuitively and scientifically reflect the true waterproof properties of leather, so they are widely used worldwide.
