What is aqueous film-forming foam extinguishing agent (AFFF)? What is the mechanism of action?

The aqueous film-forming foam extinguishing agent is composed of hydrocarbon surfactant, fluorocarbon surfactant, auxiliary agent, stabilizer, antifreeze, etc. It is an efficient foam fire extinguishing agent, which is characterized by forming a protective film on the surface of oil to inhibit the evaporation of oil. Relying on the dual role of foam and protective film, it has high fire extinguishing efficiency, fast speed, good anti re ignition performance and sealing performance, high pollution resistance and long storage life.

In the process of extinguishing fire, the water released from the bubble film of aqueous film-forming foam extinguishing agent can form a layer of water film with good sealing property on the fuel surface to isolate the contact between fuel and air. With the dual role of foam and protective film, it can quickly and efficiently extinguish oil fires. It is characterized by low energy consumption and requires only minimal stirring energy. The generated foam has excellent fluidity and can quickly overwhelm the flame to put out the oil fire. It is compatible with most proportional mixing devices (foam tank) and foam fire extinguishing devices.
